Charles Rice
[Baritone]
Anglo-French Baritone Charles read Politics at Leeds University working as a TV Writer/Producer for the BBC and ITV before retraining at the Royal Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio.
In the UK he has appeared with the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Wexford Festival, Grange Festival, Aldeburgh Festival and English Touring Opera in roles such as Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Sid in Albert Herring, Ned Keene in Peter Grimes and Maximilian in Candide.
International engagements have included Robert Cecil in Gloriana (Teatro Real Madrid), the title role of Eugene Onegin (Angers Nantes Opéra), Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hyogo Performing Arts Center), Marcello in La bohème (Opera Theatre Company Dublin) and HARLEKIN in Ariadne auf Naxos and SILVIO in Pagliacci (Opéra de Toulon). A frequent guest of Opéra de Lyon he sang in their world pemiere of Benjamin, dernière Nuit.
Plans include Carmina Burana with Liepaja Symphony Latvia, Lancelot in Camelot (London) and the title-role in Thomas’s Hamlet (Nantes and Rennes).
Alex Otterburn
[Baritone]
In his first professional season Alex garnered unanimous critical acclaim in numerous roles. From Eddy in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Greek (Edinburgh International Festival), Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos (Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park), to Pallante in Agrippina (Grange Festival), Alex distinguished himself as a young artist with phenomenal versatility.
A former Scottish Opera Emerging Artist, this season Alex joins English National Opera as a Harewood Artist making his mainstage debut as Squibby in Iain Bell’s new opera Jack the Ripper conducted by Martyn Brabbins. Elsewhere he takes his celebrated portrayal of Eddy in Greek to the Brooklyn Academy of Arts, marking his US operatic debut, as well as making his debut at Opera North as Cascada in Giles Havergal’s production of The Merry Widow under Martin André. In concert he returns to the Edinburgh International Festival for Bernstein’s Arias and Barcarolles, accompanied by James Baillieu and Philip Moore.
Dan Shelvey
[Tenor]
Liverpool born tenor Dan was a member of the National Opera Studio in 2017-18, where he worked with companies including Opera North, Welsh National Opera and Scottish Opera. He recently retrained as a tenor, having previously studied and performed as a baritone. In the 2018-19 season he will make his Royal Opera House debut as Baldr in the world premiere of Gavin Higgins’ new opera The Monstrous Child.
Recent highlights include the role of Ecclittico in Haydn’s Il mondo della Luna (New Chamber Opera), in which he was described as “a name to watch” (Seen and Heard International). As a baritone he sang the role of Marchese d’Obigny La traviata (Glyndebourne) in 2017 and as a soloist in many of the UK’s leading concert venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Colston Hall and the Bridgewater Hall. He was a Countess of Munster recital artist in 2014-2018 and a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne in 2013. He is an alumnus of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, before attending GSMD he graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a First Class degree.

Katie trained at Central School of Ballet in London, First Class BA(Hons) in Professional Dance and Performance.

Jessica Walker
[Mezzosoprano]
Alongside her busy career as both cabaret artist and opera singer, Jessica has been devising, performing and writing new work, both alone and in collaboration with others, since 2010. Her recent projects include Not Such Quiet Girls, a new commission commemorating the end of WW1 for Opera North, her play All I Want is One Night (in London, Manchester and Brits off Broadway, New York) and an accompanying CD of French cabaret songs. Recent performances include her critically-acclaimed solo shows The Girl I Left Behind Me and Pat Kirkwood is Angry, the Tom Waits project Mercy and Grand (Adelaide Festival), and a recording of WW1 songs, Enter the Peace Broker. Her stage work across Europe includes Gwendolen in Gerald Barry’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Nurse/Harriet in Sunday in the Park with George (Théâtre du Châtelet), Nerone in The Coronation of Poppea, Gloria in One Touch of Venus, The Little Arab Julietta, Gigi School for Lovers and Peep Bo in The Mikado.
Aoife Miskelly

Northern Irish soprano Aoife studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Her career now takes her across Europe with recent appearances at major houses including the Royal Opera, La Monnaie, Aix-en-Provence, Oper Köln and Welsh National Opera. Her roles include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Gilda in Rigoletto, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Despina in Così, Servilia in Clemenza di Tito, Musetta in La Boheme, Polissena in Radamisto, the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden, Thérèse in Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tirésias, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Eliza in My Fair Lady and on her last appearance in Japan, Helena A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She is also a keen interpreter of new music: amongst her contemporary repertoire are premieres and works by Mark-Anthony Turnage, Gerald Barry, Jonathan Dove and Detlev Glanert. Future plans include the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen for Welsh National Opera.

Hilary Summers

Her three-octave range has excited the attention of many composers, and she has created roles including Stella in Carter’s What Next? (Berlin State Opera), Irma in Peter Eötvös’s Le balcon (Aix-en-Provence) and Miss Prism in Gerald Barry’s The Importance of Being Earnest (Los Angeles Philharmonic and Linbury Studio in London).
A fine interpreter of the Baroque repertoire, in opera she has specialised in Handelian heroes such as the title role in Giulio Cesare, but her repertoire ranges from Mars in Legrenzi’s Il divisione del mondo to Baba the Turk inThe Rake’s Progress and Mrs Sedley in Peter Grimes.
Recent and future highlights include Mother Goose in The Rake’s Progress (Aix-en-Provence and Netherlands Opera), Diana Orsini in Ginastera’s Bomarzo (Teatro Real), Cornelia in Giulio Cesare with Christian Curnyn and Early Opera Company, concerts with ORF Radiosymphony Orhestra, The King’s Consort, La Serenissima, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and Finnish Radio. François trained in Brussels at the Maurice Béjart School: Mudra. He then became a principal member of the Lindsay Kemp Company with whom he has performed many time in Japan.
He has also performed in Japanese productions the title roles of Nephilim and Salome Directed by Keikou Hyo with Mio Takaki, Eisuke Sasai and Hinokawa Okami in Sussanoo directed by Haruhiko Jo with Ninja (Johnny and Associates), Miyuki Tsurugi and Ran Otori.
As actor, dancer, singer, he has collaborated with a diverse array of companies and directors such as: DV8, Ballet Rambert, Gecko Physical Theatre, Punch Drunk, Jane Campion, Terry Gilliam, Neil Bartlett. He has sung, Njegus in The Merry Widow, Goro in Mme Butterfly, Franz in The Merry Widow and in musicals: Sarrazine, Night After Night and The Bar by Nicolas Bloomfield. He has produced two solos Empire, a song and dance Vanitas and the Electro Oratorio Medea Written In rage. Yutaka Sado

Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts. Studied under Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa. Winner of the 1989 International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors. He has performed for top class orchestras around Europe, including the Orchestre de Paris, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, Berlin Philharmonic, and NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. From September 2015, inaugurated as music director of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, with a history of over 100 years in Austria. His achievements are numerous and his opera productions include La traviata at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in 2003, Madame Butterfly at the Chorégies d'Orange in 2007, Peter Grimes at the Teatro Regio Torino in 2010, Carmen in 2012, and Le nozze di Figaro in 2015. He is the artistic director at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center and chief conductor at the Siena Wind Orchestra. Many CDs of his performances have been released, and his newest is his eighth CD as conductor of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 (released May 2018). His written works include "How I Became a Conductor" (Shincho Bunko), "A Life of Waving a Baton - How Conductors Carve Time" (PHP Shinsho/PHP Bunko).

Antony is a Royal Designer for Industry. He is a member of the British Team of Designers who won the Golden Triga at the 2003 Prague Quadrennale for Un Ballo in Maschera, and in 1991 for the 1989 RSC Hamlet starring Mark Rylance. Winner of Set Design Award for Opera, International Opera Awards 2013.

Lucy is a multi-award winning, critically acclaimed Lighting Designer. She is a two-time winner of the prestigious Knight of Illumination Award for Dance for Chroma (2008) and for Woolf Works (2015); winner of the 2013 TMA Achievement award in Opera for Lohengrin; and the 2004 Olivier Dance Award for 2 Human.

William Banks
Born in Sydney, William studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He has danced as a soloist in both classical ballet and contemporary companies as well as at The Salzburg Festival. This has seen him perform roles in The Nutcracker, The Firebird, Cinderella, Romeo & Juliet and The Sleeping Beauty throughout Europe, Australia and Asia. William is based in London where he works in musicals (Kiss of the Spider Woman), short films, movies (Time to Dance), commercials and collaborates with both photographers and high-end designers for London Fashion Week.
Jonathan Caguioa
Jonathan was born in London and trained at The Royal Ballet Lower and Upper schools. After graduation he joined The Birmingham Royal Ballet. Then he was promoted to Soloist. During his 14- year -career with the company he has danced numerous roles in ballets by Ashton, Balanchine, Bintley, MacMillan, Van Manen, Cranko, Tharp and Wright. Other theatre includes being part of the original London cast of Wheeldon’s An American in Paris (Dominion) and dancing the role of Angel George in The King and I (London Palladium). He was also a featured dancer in Disney’s motion picture Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

Paul’s current and future plans include the title role in Candide (Komische Oper Berlin), Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Grange Festival), Guidobaldo in Schreker's Die Gezeichneten (Oper Zürich), Percy Bysshe Shelley in Michael Wertmüller’s new opera Didodati. Zoe was born in Cheshire and at the age of 11 went to The Royal Ballet School for 5 years where she performed with The Royal Ballet in Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, followed by Central School of Ballet for 3 years where she performed in Swan Lake with Northern Ballet. After graduating she joined The National Ballet of Ireland where she performed in Scherezarde, Romeo & Juliet, The Nutcracker and Carmen. She then performed in Phantom of the Opera (West end) for 2 years, worked with New English Ballet theatre working with several choreographers, performed in An American in Paris Understudy Lise Dassin (West end), a new contemporary musical, Vanara and an immersive production of Swan Lake (Odette).

Rachael Crocker
Rachael has appeared in many Musical theater productions including We will Rock you (Dominion, West end), The Snowman (Sadlers Wells and Peacock), Phantom of the Opera (UK Tour), West Side Story (UK Tour), Cats (Asia Tour), Peter Pan (Dublin), Movin Out (Apollo Victoria). Film credit includes Masquarade dancer in Phantom of the Opera.
Layla Harrison
Layla is a graduate of The Royal Ballet School and London Studio Centre. As an artist with Scottish Ballet, she performed works including Alice, Cinderella, Nutcracker, Cheating Lying Stealing, Sleeping Beauty, Rubies, and Carmen. Layla also worked with English National Ballet in Swan Lake, Giselle, Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet, and Sleeping Beauty. She performed in The Royal Ballet’s Cinderella and Peter & the Wolf, and in The Kirov Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty. Further theatre credits include Meg in Phantom of the Opera (West End), Olivier Awards (ROH), Van Cleef & Arpels (Buckingham Palace), Phantom of the Opera 25th (Royal Albert Hall/Cinema/DVD), Jeux -Dance-Connections, Oliver, Ragged Child (USA/Canada), and Liberty Bell in Stars & Stripes. Nicky Henshall
Nicky trained at The Royal Ballet School and worked professionally with English National Ballet. After spending six years touring regionally and internationally she left to freelance as an Independent Dance Artist. Nicky has worked with choreographers such as Wayne McGregor for the BRIT Awards, Akram Khan, R&D for ENB Giselle and Liam Scarlett, appearing in Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four realms. Nicky was part of the original West End cast of Wheeldon’s An American in Paris. Nicky has assisted George Williamson for Embrace (Birmingham Royal Ballet) and Stina Quagebeure for Nora (ENB) both premiered at Sadlers Wells. She is currently Rehearsal Director for New English Ballet Theatre and runs Staffordshire Youth Ballet - a youth initiative for promising young dancers in her home town.
Amy Hollins
Amy trained at the English National Ballet School. Upon graduating Amy joined the English National Ballet Company and danced with the company for over four years. Her repertoire includes Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet, Paquita, Raymonda, Rite of Spring, Facing Viv, Drink to me with thine eyes, Trapeze. Musical theatre credits in the west end include An American in Paris, Sinatra, cover Meg in Phantom of the Opera, cover Judy in Movin Out, Phantom 25th Anniversary Concert, Le Vespre Sicilliennes (Royal Opera). Film/Television credits include Disney’s The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, Royal Variety Performance 2011,2012 & 2016 (ITV), Gigglebiz (Cbeebies), Concert for Diana with Take That (BBC).
Lucy Renouf
Lucy trained at Laine Theatre Arts. She made her West End debut in 42nd Street at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Theatre credits include The Variety Hall of Fame (London), Eugenius (London Palladium), Ensemble/Understudy Princess in Jack and the Beanstalk (The Hawth, Crawley), Cinderella (Bristol Hippodrome), Robin Hood (New Victoria Theatre, Woking). Additionally Lucy has been an Ambassador and Model for Capezio dancewear.

Olive trained at Arts Educational. Theatre Credits include Lorraine in Jersey Boys (UK tour), Thursford Christmas Spectacular (Thursford), Swing/Understudy Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar (UK Tour), Dance Captain/ Sister in Evita (Dominion Theatre/ UK tour), Della/ Doris in Save The Last Dance For Me (UK Tour), Olive’s Mum/Ensemble in 25th Annual Putney County Spelling Bee, Mother in Kiss of The Spider Woman, Mitzi Lee and Vocal Captain in Babes in Arms, Vocalist in Olivier Awards, Dance/Swing Captain in Crazy for You, Myrtle May in Harvey, Hedda in Hedda Gable, Mistress Quickly in The Merry Wives of Windsor. Katie Webb
Katie trained at Associate of The Royal Ballet School and Tring Park School for Performing Arts. She joined Scottish Ballet Company under the direction of Ashley Page/Christopher Hampson and performed various productions/pieces for over 5 years which including Pennies from Heaven, Alice in Wonderland, Song of the Earth, Jiri Kylian's 14'20" and A Streetcar Named Desire. She has also performed with Matthew Bourne's New Adventures Company in Edward Scissorhands, The Car Man, Sleeping Beauty, The Red Shoes, Cinderella and Swan Lake, with Birmingham Royal Ballet in Still Life at The Penguin Cafe, The Nutcracker, with English National Ballet in Romeo & Juliet and The Nutcracker.
Daisy West
Daisy trained at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance (1st class BA Hons). Performance credits include Lady Macduff /Witch in Macbeth (Mark Bruce Company), Medea (Lynne Page/Opera De Geneve), Guest dancer in Sea of Troubles Kenneth Macmillan celebrations at the Royal Opera House, (Yorke Dance Project), Lynne Page Dance, Christopher Thomas- Sadlers Wells young associate choreographer, Soloist (Peter Schaufuss Ballet), Peter Pan (Northern Ballet), Maria Stahlbaum in Will Tuckett's Immersive Nutcracker (R+D), Brook Street Band, Will Tuckett and Alasdair Middleton collaboration (R+D).
